ME London announces details of rooftop bar
ME London - the new five-star hotel being launched by Spanish hotel group Meliá Hotels International in September - has announced details of its rooftop bar.
The 140-seat capacity Radio bar on the top of the hotel in the Aldwych will overlook Somerset House and enjoy 180° views over the capital.
It will offer a quirky cocktail list from food and beverage operators, the One Group, as well as a selection of beers, wines and soft drinks. Signature drinks will include the Mile High Margarita (Cuervo gold, Grand Marnier, Cointreau, Chambord, cranberry juice and lemonade) and the English Electric Company (Bombay Sapphire gin, mint and lime topped with Moët & Chandon brut). Mediterranean-inspired menus will also be available throughout the day.
The name Radio is a reference to Marconi House - now occupied by the 157-bedroom ME London - which was the former home of the BBC, where in 1922 it broadcasted the first regular radio programmes.
The One Group will also be operate the hotel's steakhouse restaurant, STK London, which will be headed by executive chef Barry Vera. Yorkshire-born Vera has worked in London at Le Pont de la Tour, Quaglino's and Cantina del Ponte, as well in several positions overseas in France, Canada, the United States, South Africa and Australia.
General manager of ME London is Fabio Gallo, who was previously general manager at the Cadogan London.
