Michelin accidentally reveals some new stars for 2013 early
Michelin seems to have accidentally published some of its 2013 results a week ahead of the official release date of the new guide to Great Britain and Ireland.
While the results have not been confirmed by Michelin, according to its website three restaurants have been elevated to two-star-status: Simon Rogan's L'Enclume in Cartmel, Cumbria; Michael Wignall at the Latymer at Pennyhill Park in Surrey; and Pierre Gagnaire and Mourad Mazouz's Sketch in London.
In the capital five restaurants appear to have been awarded their first star: Alyn Williams at the Westbury; Dabbous; Hedone; Medlar; Trishna; St John Hotel; and Launceston Place. The Petersham Nurseries Cafe in Richmond has retained its star following the departure of former head chef Skye Gyngell and the appointment of Greg Malouf.
New one-star restaurants in England include Heston Blumenthal's Hinds Head in Bray, Berkshire; Paul Ainsworth at Number Six Restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall; Alimentum in Cambridge; and Thackeray's Restaurant in Kent.
The restaurant at Coworth Park appears to have lost its Michelin star.
Michelin was unavailable for comment when contacted by Caterer and Hotelkeeper but told Tweets by Richardvines of Bloomberg that "the website may not be showing all the star awards and there may be clarification after an hour as they were ‘caught on the hop'".
