Mike Williams joins De Vere Hotels and Village Urban Resorts as director of people development
Mike Williams (pictured) has been appointed director of people development at De Vere Hotels and Village Urban Resorts, after being recruited from a similar role at Hotel du Vin and Malmaison.
He joins his former boss from Hotel du Vin and Malmaison, Robert Cook, who is now chief executive of De Vere Hotels and Village Urban Resorts.
Williams' key role will be to find talent amongst the company's 6,000 employees across 38 hotels to move into managerial roles as the brand expands. Plans are already in hand to grow the Village side of the business from 25 to around 50 hotels, within three to five years. Meanwhile, the addition of the 324-bedroom Belfry hotel in Warwickshire to the business has added another 500 staff to the group.
"In the past, the company has relied on recruitment agencies to find managers from outside, when, in fact, we have the ability to harness our own home-grown talent," said Williams.
"We shall also, of course, also be searching out talented people outside the business to join who are interested in look for an opportunity of a fast-track career into management."
