Operator chosen for Heathrow's Terminal 5 hotel

The 600-bedroom hotel due to be built at Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5 building is set to be operated by Arora Holdings under the Sofitel banner.

Aiports property group BAA Lynton said today it had chosen Arora to enter into exclusive negotiations to become developer and operator of the hotel, which will be linked to the new terminal.

Accor, the French-owned hotel group, has granted Arora a franchise to run the property under its upmarket Sofitel flag.

Arora is taking a 150-year ground lease on the site.

The new hotel is expected to open in spring 2008, at the same time as the new terminal.

CBRE Hotels acted on behalf of BAA Lynton, and HVS International for Arora.

Arora already operates two hotels at Heathrow, one at Gatwick and another in Manchester.
