Premier Inn appoints 10-year-old as ‘junior hotel inspector'

Premier Inn has appointed a 10-year-old girl from Bath as "junior hotel inspector" after she wrote a letter showing interest in the town's new hotel opening.

Roberta Sweet from Bath Eastern judged the new 108-bedroom Bath City Centre hotel on elements such as friendliness of staff, bed bounciness, pillow softness and room cleanliness, in a bid to make sure that it was as suitable for children as for adults.

Sweet, who wrote to Premier Inn chief operating officer John Forrest about the new opening, also got to test the hotel's breakfast menu.

The junior hotel inspector role will now be rolled out across the Premier Inn portfolio, giving younger guests the chance to give feedback on their visits. Children can leave comments via the "Hotel Inspector Pack", downloadable from the hotel's website.

General manager Janet Cowley said: "At Premier Inn we have always valued our guests feedback. After we received Roberta's letter we saw a great opportunity to get feedback from our younger guests and ensure they are happy with their stay. We are a family brand after all."

Sweet's father, Rod Sweet, added: "We've been really taken aback at the depth of the opportunity Roberta has been given by Premier Inn. You don't usually expect this sort of thing from such a big brand. She has very high standards, but she knows what she likes!"

Roberta herself said she was "very excited" and that testing the hotel had been "a lot of fun".

"Testing bed bounciness was the best part of the job," she added.
