Premier Inn secures five new English sites
Budget hotel chain Premier Inn is to expand its portfolio by five hotels across England.
The Whitbread-owned operator has secured five sites worth a combined total of £27m, which will add 535-bedrooms to Premier Inn's portfolio.
The new sites include a deal to build a 121-bedroom Premier Inn at the Medway Leisure Park in Rochester, Kent, as well as a contract with the Newton Abbott Jockey Club to build a 62-bedroom hotel and Table Table restaurant.
Whitbread has also won planning permission for a 75-bedroom Premier Inn and Beefeater restaurant in Newmarket; a 155-bedroom property in Southampton; and a 122-bed hotel at the Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
John Bates, head of acquisitions for UK & Ireland for Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, said bringing Premier Inn to sports and leisure locations was a key part of the group's growth strategy.
"Our ongoing requirement for new sites and our flexible approach means we're able to achieve innovative deals with developers who can think creatively," he said.
