Rutland Hotel to undergo £1m revamp

The Rutland Hotel is have a £1m revamp over the next four months.

The hotel, which is Sheffield's largest independent hotel, is undergoing the refurbishment to better cater for the demands of diners and business executives visiting the city.

Director of Rutland Hotel Craig Dowie said: "The new look hotel will be simple and stylish in keeping with the building's Victorian history but adding a sophisticated touch, which will set it apart."

The work, which will commence on 16 May, will completely transform the hotel's bar, restaurant, conference facilities and wedding suite. Staff numbers have been doubled in preparation, and new head chef Jason Horton has been appointed.

The major investment comes after the Rutland's sister hotel, the Crown in Bawtry, was refurbished earlier this year.
