Steigenberger hotels announces expansion plans

German hotel group Steigenberger hotels is to expand into central and eastern Europe, the company announced this week.

The family-run hotel group said it planned to have a hotel in every major European city within the next five to 10 years.

The group currently has 80 properties under two brands the mid-market InterCity Hotel and the luxury Steigenburger hotels and Resorts in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, The Netherlands and Italy. Twelve properties are owned by the group, while the rest are run on management contracts and franchise agreements.
