Web ratings are no stars

As the dust settles regarding AA/ETC star ratings, isn't it time for the industry to tackle the misrepresentation that is going on on the web?

I was looking for a hotel in Burford today, found the Golden Pheasant on Active's site, and it clearly indicated that it was a five-star property. I checked with my new AA 2007 guide - it is not listed. On the AA's website it has two stars - 64%. How confusing is that for the public?

I am a big fan of the web and my hotel uses it successfully. However, wouldn't it be great for our customers if all the website marketeers stuck to the AA/ETC ratings?
