Yorkshire hoteliers buy Devon property for £2m-plus

Andrew and Joanne Marshall have sold their hotel in Filey, North Yorkshire, to run their new business, the Edgemoor hotel in the Devon town of Bovey Tracey, which sits on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.

Build in 1870 as a private school, the Victorian country house occupies a two-and-a-half-acre woodland site that is just two miles from the A38 Devon expressway.

Facilities include 16 en-suite bedrooms, a 30-seat restaurant, and a 22-seat bar and bistro. Two of the three function rooms can accommodate 55 or 15 delegates theatre-style while the third will hold up to eight delegates boardroom-style.

For the hotel team, there is a two-bedroom manager's flat and a four-bedroom owners' house with a private courtyard and garden.

The Exeter office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price in excess of £2m on behalf of Mark and Jan Butler.
