Young's spends £3m on developing boutique hotel with pub
Pub and hotel operator Young's is investing £3m on launching a 17-bedroom boutique hotel with pub and dining room in Claygate, Surrey.
Due to open in October, the Foley intends to build on the success of sister business the Alma hotel in Wandsworth Town, which is designed as a modern-day coaching inn.
Preserving the key features of the original 18th-century property, leisure specialists ADS Design is creating a contemporary, bold decor for each bedroom, with bespoke furniture and textured fabrics. Facilities will include flat-screen TVs, bathrooms with walk-in showers, complimentary Wi-Fi and mini-bars.
The pub and dining room will be at the heart of the Foley, providing a hub for both locals and hotel guests. A menu of seasonal dishes will also be on offer throughout, with many ingredients sourced from local producers, including award-winning meat from The Game Larder in Claygate and fish from Williams & Bunkell.
The drinks offer will include a selection of Young's signature cask ales and craft beers as well as an extensive wine list.
Patrick Dardis, Young's retail director, explained that the company's considerable investment in the Foley illustrated its commitment to adding value to the group's hotel estate. "The coaching inn concept is a natural evolution for the brand, allowing us to offer quality food, drink and accommodation under one roof, always retaining the pub's identity within its community" he added.
