London's hotels and restaurants have been lit up with elaborate trees to celebrate the festive season. We round up some of the best.
The Ned
Members' club and City hotel the Ned has installed a 21ft tree dressed with over 6,000 fairy lights and more than 1,600 decorations.
Claridge's
Claridge's has linked up with Louis Vuitton to celebrate the fact that both the hotel and brand were founded in 1854. The tree sculpture is housed inside two Louis Vuitton ‘wardrobe trunks' stacked on top of each other at a height of 5.2m. Inside, 15 repurposed chrome trunks of varying heights have been put together to create the silhouette of a traditional Christmas tree.
London Edition
The London Edition hotel's 20ft tree features oversize handblown Murano glass baubles and hand-painted decorations made of faux stones including lapis, onyx and marble.
The Connaught
British sculptor Rachel Whiteread has designed the Connaught hotel's tree. The 31ft tree stands in Carlos Place outside the hotel and is decorated with 102 circular neon white hoops, a regular feature in Whiteread's work and designed to celebrate a "feeling of togetherness".
Aqua Shard
The 7m ‘Giving Tree' at the Aqua Shard restaurant is decorated with wooden toys, teddy bears and hot air balloons. Replicas of the gifts will be donated to children at Great Ormond Street Hospital and diners will have the option of making a £1 donation to the hospital's charity appeal. Filled stockings hung on the tree will also be donated to local food banks.
Native Places
Aparthotel Native Places has named its tree ‘A Nostalgic Tapestry of the Thames'. Created in partnership with artist and television personality Christopher Mills, the 12ft sculpture is topped with a Victorian street lamp salvaged from the south bank of the river. Decorations include an 1890s carved figure of Shakespeare, antique food cans and a Tate & Lyle food van.
Pan Pacific London
The reimagined tree at the Pan Pacific London hotel, created by artist Arnaud Lapierre, is made from recycled emerald green glass and mirrored cubes. Named Mosaic, it is designed to reflect the lights of the old and new buildings surrounding the hotel.
Shangri-La at the Shard
The hotel within the Shard in London has partnered with perfume brand Jo Malone for a scent-inspired Christmas tree. The 14ft tree is laden with lights, red and white bows and baubles, and mini bottles of Jo by Jo Loves. A life-sized perfume bottle flanked by mirrors and lights stands next to the tree for guests to use for social media posts.
