Leisureplex Hotels has bought the Cavendish hotel in Torquay from the Ryder family, taking the total number of properties in its portfolio to 22.
Of the hotel’s 95 bedrooms, 48 will be refurbished with new bathrooms installed as part of a 12-month work schedule to renovate the property.
Additionally, the original name of the Metropole has been restored following the acquisition, which has become the company’s second hotel in the seaside resort after the Regina hotel.
Karen Sawbridge, managing director of parent company the Alfa Leisureplex Group, explained: “The Regina hotel in Torquay is extremely popular with our customers.
“The Cavendish will enable us to increase occupancy levels within Torquay so we can meet customer demand for this attractive resort.”
