The good Shepherd
Thanks for a wonderful interview with Richard Shepherd, one of the greats of the British catering industry.
Several years ago, a fledgling chefs' association in York held its first salon to encourage local chefs to get together. At the awards dinner, we wanted a true disciple of good food to present the awards, so we phoned Richard on an off-chance. He immediately accepted our invitation to come up north, at his own expense.
He made the evening memorable, especially for the young entrants, who were made to feel that bit special by Richard when he presented them with their hard-earned awards.
