JD Wetherspoon to launch The Curry Club; John Shrigley joins Manchester's Baráa

It's only rock ‘n' roll for John Shrigley

John Shrigley, whose CV includes a spell at the three-AA rosette Box Tree restaurant in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, has been appointed head chef at the Manchester bar and restaurant Baráa, owned by pop star Mick Hucknall. Shrigley plans to add classic British dishes to the existing Mediterranean, North African and Pacific Rim food offer.

Spice up those curry sales

Authentic Indian Foods has teamed up with pub chain J D Wetherspoon to launch The Curry Club in a bid to promote Indian cuisine. Every Thursday until the end of April, customers will be able to indulge in an Indian meal and a pint of beer for £4.99 at more than 300 pubs.
