Fabbri Group launches compostable cling film

With an increasing focus on more environmentally friendly packaging, the Fabbri Group has created Nature Fresh, a bioplastic certified compostable cling film.

The cling film is available in rolls for automatic packaging or hand-wrap, cutter-boxes and jumbo rolls, and can be composted at home or through industrial organic waste recycling.

Michele Govoni, UK branch managing director of Fabbri Group, explained: "Cling film is not widely recycled, with more than 90% ending up in landfill or being incinerated.

"Nature Fresh is biodegradable and compostable and, unlike other products now banned by the EU (oxo-degradable films), does not release any microplastic in the environment. It reaches Industrial Compostability Standard EN 13432, with the product metabolising and converting into CO2, water and biomass within six months. It is also certified for home composting, where it will completely biodegrade, ready to be spread on your vegetable patch."
