Good-quality coffee makes work a better place to be

New research has revealed that two thirds of workers believe high-quality coffee makes the workplace a good place to be.

Additional findings from the study showed that the average worker drinks between two and three cups of coffee a day at work and that the top three factors when choosing to buy coffee at work are taste (82%), convenience (82%) and quality (79%).

Phil Smith, head of category and insight, UCC Coffee UK & Ireland, explained: "As a nation we're becoming increasingly concerned with coffee quality and it's affecting the workplace.

"Currently only one in three employees expects a great coffee at work which presents a great opportunity for caterers. The reality is that there is the potential to increase sales by delivering a great coffee experience that will keep employees on site during work hours.

"Creating an experience that competes with the high street doesn't need to be complicated. Caterers should focus on getting the basics right - coffee that tastes fantastic, great service and good value."
