McCormick Flavour Forecast finds simplicity is a global trend
Simplicity is a key emerging culinary trend across the world, according to McCormick](http://www.mccormickcorporation.com), which has been identifying changing tastes in its annual Flavour Forecast since 2000.
The group, which operates in 100 countries via brands such as [Schwartz for Chef](http://www.schwartzforchef.co.uk), has found chefs are moving away from complex dishes towards clear and unpretentious flavours using quality ingredients and uncomplicated methods.
Concluding that "simplicity shines" and that the simplest food is often the most memorable, the group has pinpointed a number of new dining opportunities outside of traditional meal times that caterers can capitalise on with less fussy recipes.
The trend towards all-day grazing has put new emphasis on snacking and bar foods, while sharing plates have benefited from consumers' search for lighter and cheaper alternatives to traditional meals. Side orders and accompaniments can also help operators increase spend per head.
