W London opens with cutting edge design
W London - the latest addition to the luxury London hotel market - opens its doors today.
Situated on the corner of Leicester Square and Wardour Street, the hotel's dramatic contemporary design stands it apart from its competitor set. It is aimed to particularly appeal to guests from within the entertainment, fashion and media industries.
The 10-storey, 192-bedroom property is veiled in translucent glass which changes colour according to the time of the day, the ambience of the area and events within the hotel or capital.
Inside, the hotel's restaurant Spice Market marks the return of New York-based French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten to London. Chef de cuisine Tim Tolley will be cooking from a menu inspired by the street flavours of South-east Asia.
Meanwhile, the music and drinks in the Wyld bar, run by the Ignite Group, have been influenced by rock ‘n' roll London.
The hotel also has a 38-seat screening room, spa and rooftop fitness studio.
W Hotels is a design-led brand operated by Starwood Hotels and Resorts, There are currently about 40 W hotels and resorts worldwide, with a further 10 set to open by the end of 2012.
