Amadeus secures £12m contract for Belfast Visitor Attractions

Amadeus, part of the NEC Group, has secured a five-year catering contract worth £12m to provide services to four visitor attractions in Belfast.

The deal, which will start in December, will see Amadeus cater at Belfast Castle (pictured), Malone House, Belfast Zoo and the Stables coffee shop in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.

It marks the second major contract win for Amadeus in Northern Ireland after the firm won a five-year contract worth £16.3m with Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall in April this year.

Kevin Watson, managing director of Amadeus said: "We celebrated our 40th birthday this year and our vast amount of knowledge in retail, conference and banqueting and events catering made us best placed to deliver this exciting contract in Belfast.

"We share Belfast City Council's aspirations for the visitor sites and we will be looking to draw more interest to the venues to support the local economy.

"At Amadeus we place the customer experience at the heart of everything we do. I know the team already have plenty of ideas for the four venues that will excite visitors."

Chris Reynolds, sales director for Amadeus, added: "We are proud to have been selected by Belfast City Council to work with them on these four prestigious venues and even more so to have done so while they celebrate their year of food.

"As this is our second contract in Belfast we understand the passion behind locally sourced food and benefit from established relationships with Belfast suppliers. We are looking forward to working with the existing staff at the venues, who have all been invited to stay and will gain support from the Amadeus team."

In July this year, Amadeus reported a 7% increase in revenue for 2015/16 and a rise of 26% in profit.

The NEC Group operates the NEC, the ICC, the Genting Arena and the Barclaycard Arena. It also owns national ticketing agency, the Ticket Factory; hospitality brand Amplify, and caterer Amadeus.
