BrewDog on track to double turnover
Brewer and bar operator BrewDog is on track to nearly double its turnover in 2013, compared with 2012, as it announced a fifth consecutive year of record growth.
Turnover for 2013 is expected to rise to £19m this year, up from £10.8m the year before. The company did not release any profit figures.
The craft brewer has 12 bars, including its first international site in Stockholm, which opened earlier this year. It plans to open a further nine sites over the next six months, including five UK bars and international sites in Sao Paulo, New Delhi and Berlin.
The business, which currently employs 200 people, will create another 50 jobs over the coming months and is currently searching for a head of sales, UK on-trade account manager and UK off-trade account manager.
The business has used a crowdfunding scheme called "Equity for Punks" to part-finance is expansion. A third round of the scheme in June this year raised £1m in 24 hours.
James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog commented: "The media says the beer market is in decline, but it's just being redefined. Sales of craft beer are growing and will continue to grow, demonstrating the global thirst for beer with real soul. The craft beer revolution has exploded from its niche starting point to an international movement."
