Death of a Grand barman

Brighton barman DANIELE ARGENTESI has died, aged 55. He had suffered from a heart condition.

Argentesi was head barman at the De Vere Grand hotel until two years ago. He was described by general manager Richard Baker as "a superb barman, experienced and hard-working, yet great fun".

Argentesi worked at the hotel for 10 years and became a familiar face to its Victoria Lounge visitors.

Baker said he had received a number of calls from people expressing their condolences.

Argentesi has been buried in his native Italy.
