The new owner of a restaurant in Cornwall is more used to running through a cricket team's batting order than a food order.

Former England and Yorkshire fast bowler Chris Old has taken over the Clipper restaurant and take-away (left) at Praa Sands, near Penzance, Cornwall, which was on the market for £135,000. A spokesman for selling agent Miller Commercial said it was the ex-cricketer's first venture into the catering industry.

Old, who lives in Falmouth and runs a sports consultancy business, will be operating the 50-cover beachside restaurant and 30-seat tea garden with his wife in the high season, but is expected to continue his consultancy work out of season.
