Harry Ramsden's aims to add more branches

Fish-and-chip shop chain Harry Ramsden's is to launch an initiative in a bid to add up to 30 franchise outlets during 2003.

The group, owned by contract catering giant Compass, will focus on adding to its 15 Harry Ramsden's Local high-street take-aways.

"Last year, 15 managed Harry Ramsden's shops were developed and the sales and profit increases in these were amazing - up to 120% on the previous year," managing director Maurice Gammell said.

Harry Ramsden's also plans to open 10-15 company-owned restaurants by the end of the year. These will include a flagship 200-seat Fish and Chip Emporium in London's West End this summer.
