Jail term for controller who stole from Cumberland
A former assistant financial controller at London's Cumberland hotel has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for stealing more than £350,000 from the hotel. Jean-Pierre Abbey of Blythe Road, Shepherd's Bush, London, used the cash to buy a flat, two BMWs, expensive holidays, clothes, and jewellery.
On 70 separate incidents, he took cash from the hotel's bureau de change to pay staff, but at the same time drew money from the hotel's bank account, Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court was told.
