Light, healthy spreads

CONSUMERS are becoming much more health-conscious, especially when it comes to margarines and spreads.

Utterly Butterly, 900, from St Ivel Foodservice, is high in monounsaturates (a good replacement for saturates) and low in saturates. This rich and buttery tasting spread, a blend of rapeseed oil and pure buttermilk, can be used on a variety of sweet and savoury breads or rolls.

Vitalite, 901, is high in polyunsaturates (small amounts are essential in the diet) and low in saturates. It is available in 1kg and 2kg tubs and 10g portions. Vitalite Reduced Fat, 902, is a healthier alternative with only 52 per cent fat, a good choice for offering a reduced fat or healthier menu item.

St Ivel Gold Light, 903, is only half the fat of butter or margarine as it is made with semi-skimmed milk. Available in a variety of sizes.

Shape Yogurt, 904, also from St Ivel, is the leading low fat brand and can be served at virtually any time of day including breakfast or as an accompaniment to fresh fruit. Twinpots and Single Pots are available in various flavours including Strawberry, Plum and Blackcurrant and Temptingly Toffee.

Portions, 905, from St Ivel include butter, dairy spreads and cheeses including Cornish Butter and Utterly Butterly.

Cheese portions, 906, are in 20g sizes including Mild Cheddar, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester.
