Liverpool to welcome Tourism Society

"Event tourism: panacea or pandemonium?" is the theme of this year's annual conference of the Tourism Society. It's a theme chosen to reflect the planning and organisation involved in event tourism to make sure the event is successful.

The conference runs from 17-18 June and takes place at the Peter Jost Centre, Liverpool John Moores University.

It will deal with how to turn an event into a success story and will present case studies for events large and small, local and international.

This year there will be two optional study tours. The first will be in the morning of day one and will be a tour of Liverpool's waterfront and City region, including the docks, the riverside, the cathedral and the art gallery. The second, in the evening prior to the conference dinner, will take in the Maritime Museum.

The conference dinner at the Maritime Museum's restaurant will feature after-dinner speaker Malcolm Gresy of international consultancy Arup.
