McEvedy to open London bistro
Allegra McEvedy has become the chef in residence at the Institute of Contemporary Art's café and bar in London, where she will open a 60-seat bistro-style restaurant in October.
McEvedy, formerly of the Good Cook restaurant in London, said she was "slowly moving into taking over the whole operation".
She is catering for private parties and cooking "New York canteen-style" lunches and bar food at the institute's 120-seat café-bar.
McEvedy, who has worked at London's River Café and the New York Tribeca Bar & Grill, attracted media interest while running her Good Cook restaurant in Notting Hill's Tabernacle, a community centre and art gallery.
Two years ago she moved the restaurant to a bigger site on High Street Kensington, but it failed to make a profit and closed two months later. It then moved to the Serpentine gallery in Hyde Park.
