Menu tribute to crash victim Paul

The chef who died in the Selby rail disaster is to have a menu created in his honour.

Paul Taylor, 42, from Newcastle, was crowned GNER's Chef of the Year last year. He and nine other passengers were killed when their train hit a Land Rover which had crashed on to the track in February.

Now, as part of GNER's new menu, Paul's dishes have been recreated.

John Dykes, GNER's catering manager, said: "As a fitting tribute to Paul and his contribution to train catering, we are offering passengers the chance to sample his award-winning menu."

GNER also asked chefs from restaurants along its east coast route to devise dishes. Among those who agreed were John Benson-Smith, from Hazlewood Castle in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, Andrew Pern of the Star Inn, near Helmsley, in North Yorkshire, and staff from McCoys at the Cleveland Tontine, near Osmotherley, North Yorkshire.
