Norwich City FC upgrades catering

Norwich City Football Club, which has Delia Smith as its catering director, has invested £1m in improving its food and hospitality, two years after reports of long queues and inedible food at the club hit the headlines.

Smith, also a shareholder in the club, decided to bring the catering operations in-house in 1999 after poor service and huge debt threatened to destroy the reputation of the club's food. A major refurbishment and extension of the catering operations has now finished, with new kitchens and a three-storey extension.

A spokeswoman said: "The aim is to raise the standard of catering at the club and help us compete on a more corporate level. It reflects a more commercial approach."
