Only the names have changed

After Granada's service stations were labelled the worst in the UK by consumer guide Which? last year, brand development director Paul Kelly said: "Enough is enough." Owner Compass Group felt that the Granada name was central to the service stations' reputation as awful and overpriced. It renamed them Moto.

Bass, the hotels, restaurants and pubs group, became Six Continents. There are seven continents, but the group does not have any operations in Antarctica.

Rocco Forte decided to rename his RF Hotels group Rocco Forte Hotels to make clear who owns the luxury hotel group.

Other name changes this year included Ryan Hotels (Gresham Group); Café Rouge (Rouge); and Bank restaurant group (Fish restaurant group).
