Durham opening
Budget chain Travelodge is to open a 57-bedroom hotel in Durham city centre in January. The £2m development will include a car park and a café-bar.
Aagrah drives away Aagrah, the group of Kashmiri restaurants, is moving its Shipley restaurant in Bradford to a 10,000sq ft former car showroom on 28 October. The new premises, also in Shipley, will house a 150-seat restaurant, the group's offices and an outdoor catering unit capable of handling events for as many as 5,000 people.
More Good Beans Good Bean, the coffee shop chain, is to open two more shops at the end of October. A 60-seat Good Bean is to open in the Mailbox centre in Birmingham on 29 October, while another 60-seat coffee shop will open in Hove, Sussex.
Eagle has landed The Eagle Bar & Bakery opened in Brighton yesterday. The pub seats 30 and serves an international menu with a large vegetarian choice. The bakery at the back of the main bar will provide bread, pizzas and pastries for the Eagle as well as for owner Dominic McCartan's four other pubs. The Eagle was refurbished in partnership with brewer Greene King.
Extra Perseverance The Perseverance, the pub-restaurant in Bloomsbury, London, has opened an additional 20-seat dining room upstairs. Shareholders in the pub include general manager Billy Drew and chef Richard McClellan, who describes his menu as "simple modern European".
