Openings
Caesar's comeback
The Caesar hotel in Bayswater, London, reopens on 12 August. It closed last December and has been gutted and redesigned at a cost of more than £4m. The 160-bedroom property also has an 80-seat restaurant that serves international fusion cuisine. It is owned by Ace 3 and operated by management company Park Hotels.
Fire house unveiled
Fire House opens in South Kensington, London, on 9 September. The former Hudson Club will continue to operate as a private members' club, but its 80-seat dining room will be open to the public. Head chef is Daniel Crow. Dinner for two, including wine, will cost £60.
Geronimo double
Geronimo Inns will open two new pubs in south-west London this autumn. The pub group has taken 35-year leases on both 1,200sq ft sites. After £150,000 refits, the Resident, in Smith Street, Chelsea, will reopen as the Phoenix in November; and the Bram Stoker, on Old Brompton Road, becomes the Duke of Clarence in mid-September. The openings will bring the total of Geronimo Inns to 13, six of which are in the Michelin guide.
Grand reopening
The Everglades Park hotel, near Widnes, Cheshire, has reopened its 60-seat restaurant under the name Expression's. It is part of new owner Lyric Hotels' £500,000 refurbishment of the 65-bedroom property, which also includes a conference centre. A three-course dinner from the Mediterranean menu costs £13.95.
