Pale Island shines brightly

Pale Island has been named as the best beer in Britain by a panel of brewers, beer writers and journalists at the Great British Beer Festival 2004. The beer, produced by the Kelham Island Brewery in Sheffield, beat Greene King's IPA into second place to win the Campaign for Real Ale's annual competition.

Paul Ward, head brewer at Kelham Island, toasts victory with assistant brewer Stuart Ross at the festival, which took place last week at London's Olympia.
