Paramount puts four-star Hellaby Hall up for sale
Paramount Hotels, which has almost doubled in size since last summer, put the four-star Hellaby Hall hotel on the market yesterday (20 September).
The group, which is majority owned by venture partner-ship Alchemy Partners, has instructed property agent Christie & Co to ask more than £4m for the 17th-century listed property near Rotherham in South Yorkshire.
Paramount managing director Michael Purtill said the hotel did not fit into the group's portfolio, as its other properties each offered more than 100 bedrooms along with large conference facilities.
Hellaby Hall has just 52 bedrooms, while the largest two of its eight conference and private meeting rooms will accommodate 150 and 28 guests respectively.
Purtill described the hotel as "a very attractive property that would suit a slightly smaller group".
Its leisure facilities are seen as among the best within the group and include a 20m pool, spa, solarium, sauna, gym, hair and beauty salon, aerobics studio and steam room.
The hotel also has two restaurants, Rizzio's Italian restaurant and the Attic fine-dining restaurant, as well as the Carmelly bar and lounge.
Paramount expanded from nine to 15 properties after its takeover of Scottish Highland Hotels in the summer of 1999. Most recently it bought the Oxford Moat House for £11.2m.
