Revolutionary juicing

A revolutionary new concept in fresh juice vending made its UK debut at LIW '99. The Zummo Vending machine, developed in Spain, is a large (100cm wide x 68cm deep) coin operated unit which encloses a refrigerated storage unit for oranges. The juicing mechanism cuts open and squeezes the oranges to produce juice to order.

The squeezing system is described as exclusive with no acidity or oils from the peel. The machine has sufficient capacity to make 100 cups of juice with average vend time of around 25 seconds. The machine costs £4,950. Smaller tabletop machines using a similar squeezing mechanism are also available: the Zummo, with automatic feed-in of oranges, priced at £2,075 and the hand-fed Zummito, priced at £1,750.
