Scottish Food Scholarship launched

The Scottish Food Scholarship is now taking entries from chefs who are under the age of 25 and employed in Scotland.

Eligible chefs can submit entries through the website www.scottishfoodscholarship.co.uk.

The inaugural scholarship winner will win an internship with Martin Wishart at his eponymous restaurant in Edinburgh and Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire.

A trip to Melbourne to learn from Raymond Capaldi at Fenix restaurant completes the prize.

Each competitor will be asked to prepare a starter and main course from a mystery box of ingredients.

After a series of heats the final will take place on 20 March 2006 at Glasgow Metropolitan College, followed by a ceremony and dinner at the Corinthian hotel the same night.

The deadline for entries is 16 January 2006.

Supplier Braehead Foods is backing the new competition, as is Visit Scotland, Seafish, and Loch Fyne Oysters, among others.
