Tutty quits govt to join arcadian

ROY Tutty has quit his job as tourism adviser to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to join Arcadian International Hotels.

Before his appointment in 1995, Tutty was chief operating officer of Forte Hotels.

He described his time as tourism adviser as "thoroughly enjoyable" but said that his intention had always been to return to the industry this year.

Culture Secretary Chris Smith said that Tutty had been invaluable in strengthening the Government's relationship with the industry. "I urge the industry to help identify a worthy successor to continue our fruitful partnership," he said.

Tutty was vague about his new role, which he takes up in September, saying only that he was joining to "add value" and help Arcadian expand its hotel interests across Europe.

A spokeswoman from Arcadian said that the company had not yet "fixed a title" for Tutty.
