Celtic Manor
This five-star resort was opened outside Newport in 1999 by Sir Terence Matthews. At £140m, it probably represents the biggest single private investment in the British hospitality industry. It's huge, with 400 bedrooms, 32 suites, a 1,500-delegate convention centre, 40 function rooms, four restaurants, two health clubs and three championship golf courses. It's also home to the Wales Open and official venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup.
