Hotel du Vin acquires St Andrews Golf Hotel
Hotel du Vin has acquired the four-star 22-bedroom St Andrews Golf Hotel in Fife for an undisclosed sum.
St Andrews Golf Hotel was offered to buyers back in October with Hotel du Vin entering advanced negotiations to buy the property in December.
Robert Cook, chief executive of Hotel du Vin, said he was "delighted" to bring St Andrews Golf Hotel into the business.
"It is a particular aim of the business to move to St Andrews and the group are absolutely delighted to acquire such a fantastic building which will create a hotel that the locals of St Andrews and Fife will be exceptionally proud of," Cook said.
St Andrews Golf Hotel will now focus on Hotel du Vin staples including a French-style bistro, extensive wine cellars and "monsoon-like showers".
The current hotel, in addition to 22 bedrooms, has three suites, two function rooms, one restaurant and one cocktail bar.
Ken Sims, director at property agent Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: "We confidentially introduced the hotel to a number of key operators and Hotel du Vin responded particularly quickly.
"Having acquired a number of properties through Christie & Co in recent months, they were keen to complete this latest deal and secure a quality property in the historic university town."
Hotel du Vin has 11 sites in the UK with an additional three scheduled to open this year.
