Barry Hilton opens Ceru pop-up in London
Restaurateur Barry Hilton has launched a pop-up eastern Mediterranean street food restaurant in London called Ceru.
The restaurant, at 29 Rathbone Place in Fitzrovia, will run as a five-month pop-up while Hilton tries to find it a larger, permanent home.
The concept appeared over the summer at Pride Brighton, the Henley Regatta and music festivals across the South East.
The 20-cover restaurant will offer an all-day mezze bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with dishes designed to share.
The menu has been devised by executive chef Tom Kime, who has previously worked at the River Café, Le Pont de la Tour and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant, and Darley Street Thai in Sydney.
Typical dishes on the menu, which features the cuisines of the Levant and eastern Mediterranean, include: herbed zucchini fritters with feta cheese and cumin; slow- roast lamb shoulder with shawarma spices and crisp apple; and pomegranate and mint salad with green chilli and lemon zest.
Many dishes are available for takeaway and there are a number of vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Ceru is open from 8am during the week serving breakfast wraps. Customers can create their wrap from a daily selection of ingredients, including Merguez lamb sausage, tomato cinnamon and chilli relish, fresh tomato, labne, fresh spinach and za'atar.
