Outstanding Contribution award at Hotel Cateys 2015 goes to Philip Newman-Hall

Philip Newman-Hall, former managing director of Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, received a standing ovation this evening for winning the Outstanding Contribution award at the Hotel Cateys 2015.

He was honoured for his success in working alongside Raymond Blanc, the founder of Le Manoir, in ensuring the ongoing success and profitability of the property, enthusiastically mentoring young people and passionately supporting industry charities.

A gathering of 750 guests at the awards' presentation dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, saw Newman-Hall presented with the accolade, sponsored by Diversey Care, following a heart-felt speech by Blanc.

Newman-Hall left Le Manoir in September on completion of two stints at the hotel. He was general manager from 1999 to 2005, returning as managing director in 2009.

Newman-Hall, who is now working as a hotel consultant, was one of 18 winners at the glittering awards ceremony held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, which included two triple award winners. The four-AA-star, 416-bedroom Lancaster London won awards for the best housekeeper, revenue manager and human resources manager; while Firmdale Hotels carried off accolades for the top hotel restaurant team, food and beverage manager and concierge

Comedian Mark Watson provided the entertainment, while the Springboard charity benefitted from the evening's fund-raising efforts.
