Opening date set for Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouën's Margot
Paulo de Tarso and Nicolas Jaouën's new restaurant Margot, in London's Covent Garden, is set to open on 10 October.
De Tarso, former maître d' of Daniel Boulud's London outpost, Bar Boulud and Jaouën, former general manager at Mayfair's La Petite Maison, aim to celebrate the glamour and rustic charm of Italian design and craft with a focus on great food, great service, and simple elegance at Margot.
The restaurant is expected to have 104 covers and will be set across two floors.
Executive chef Maurizio Morelli will offer a taste of Italy's various gastronomic regions, with many dishes available in two portion sizes to allow for a flexible dining experience.
Typical dishes on the autumn menu will include: scallop carpaccio with lime, fresh broad beans and red chili sauce; tagliolini with Sicilian red prawns. Meat dishes will include: veal ossobuco with saffron risotto "alla Milanese" with veal jus, and among the desserts will be tiramisu with chocolate heart and Modica chocolate crumble; and flattened Sicilian cannolo, ricotta cream and pistachio ice cream.
The restaurant is designed by Fabled Studio and will take inspiration from Italian architects Giò Ponti and Carlo Mollino, featuring a palette of deep blues, pale marble and copper accents throughout.
