The Creameries from Mary-Ellen McTague opens next week
The long-awaited crowdfunded bar, restaurant and bakery the Creameries from chef Mary-Ellen McTague will open its doors next week in Manchester's Chorlton area.
McTague has joined forces with baker Sophie Yeoman and designer Soo Wilkinson to launch the venue, which will serve freshly baked bread, homemade butter, fresh curds and British and Irish cheese, alongside lunch and supper menus based on locally grown vegetables and ethically sourced meat, fish and seafood.
The project was funded through crowdfunding site Indiegogo and raised £32,000 from 768 backers to convert the former Edwardian diary.
The restaurant features a central bread oven and open plan kitchen, communal seating and a children's play area.
An alumna of Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck restaurant, McTague was head chef and proprietor of Aumbry in Manchester, for five years until the restaurant closed in 2014. She is also a former competitor on BBC TV's Great British Menu.
