Pret says no 'current problems' with its app or subscription

Pret A Manger has said it is not "aware of any current problems" with its app or Club Pret subscription service following reports the coffee and sandwich chain was being forced to refund members.

Last week, The Telegraph reported some of Pret's subscribers were experiencing technical issues with the app, which meant they were unable to claim their daily allowance of drinks.

Members were told QR codes, which grant access to drinks, would be available exclusively via the Pret App and could no longer be added to Apple or Google wallets.

It comes after Pret introduced a new login system to its app in March in a crackdown on subscription sharing.

The Club Pret scheme allows customers to order five barista-made drinks a day and receive 20 per cent discount on food for £30 per month.

The Caterer understands the technical problems were a delayed effect of individual members getting used to the updated system.

A spokesperson for Pret said: "Since Pret made the changes in March, their teams have either given refunds or applied the Club Pret discount as normally to any customers who have genuinely struggled to log in."

The high street chain increased the cost of its coffee subscription from £25 to £30 per month last April.
