Ampersand wins £22m five-year contract at London Zoo
Ampersand has won a £22m contract with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), to provide public catering services at London Zoo.
The new five-year deal is in addition to an existing partnership between the caterer and the client. Ampersand, the visitor attraction division of CH&Co, has provided event catering services at the zoo since 2006.
From October more than 30 Ampersand staff will deliver public catering for the 1.1 million visitors to the London attraction every year.
The food offer aims to interpret the concept of feeding time at the zoo and feature British seasonal produce with a focus on sustainability, in line with ZSL's values.
Commenting on the contract win, Paul Jackson, managing director at Ampersand, said: "It is an endorsement of our great team, creative food ideas, impeccable service standards, energetic sales drive and on-trend marketing expertise.
"It is also another leap forward for Ampersand. Since entering this sector seven years ago we have gone from strength to strength. Last year saw us win the Historic Royal Palaces contract and ZSL London Zoo is another true jewel in the crown."
Rich Storton, commercial & communications director at ZSL, added: "Ampersand won a highly competitive tender process through their creative approach, innovation and flair.
"We have full confidence that Ampersand will provide catering solutions that will add another exciting dimension to the visitor experience at the zoo and that customers will be delighted by their ideas and approach."
