Charlton House kitchen porter named CH&Co employee of the year
A Charlton House kitchen porter has been named CH&Co‘s employee of the year 2010.
Ying Li, who works in the kitchens at healthcare firm Sanofi-Aventis in Guildford, Surrey, was singled out ahead of nearly 2,000 CH&Co employees nationwide because of her outstanding performance at work.
She was awarded an engraved plaque, a bottle of Champagne and £500 of gift vouchers at a surprise ceremony held at the client site last week.
Li's catering manager Kerry Clark said: "If we could make copies of Ying we would and send them to each and every one of our catering operations nationwide. She is the ultimate team player; she never says no, never complains and always tries to protect anyone whom she thinks may be in trouble or needs support."
During the recent cold snap, Li demonstrated her commitment by slogging through heavy snow on foot for an hour to get to work. When the chef couldn't make it, she immediately instigated a hot breakfast and lunch service with her supervisor. She also regularly shares her knowledge and skills of Chinese cuisine with the on-site brigade.
"She is like a mother to many and a friend to all. The team absolutely loves her and we are all thrilled that she has been recognised in this way," added Clark.
