Having identified a growing consumer demand for more intense and round-bodied coffees, Douwe Egberts is launching a range of four premium espresso blends, each with distinctive characteristics.

Dark Roast Espresso consists mainly of premium Arabica beans from South and Central America, long roasted with a small quantity of Robusta for a strong, deep coffee taste, for creating speciality drinks such as cappuccino and latte as well as flavoured syrups. Extra Dark Roast Espresso has a slightly higher Robusta content than the Dark Roast to produce a strong, intense coffee with a smooth, sweet and spicy aftertaste, suitable for use in milk-based espresso drinks but also as a distinctive espresso. Intense Roast Espresso, long and dark roasted, is a 100% premium Arabica blend for a very smooth, velvety coffee suitable for espresso and ristretto but also provides a smooth cappuccino and latte.

Finally, Decaffeinated Espresso consists mainly of Arabica beans from South and Central America with a small quantity of Robusta, long roasted for a strong, round taste with high roast characteristics for espressos or a full-flavoured cappuccino or latte.

The new range is available in 1kg bags and the decaffeinated bean is available in 500g bags.
