French weekly newsletter La Lettre de l'Expansion, citing "sources close to the matter", suggested on Monday that Sodexho had asked Lazard bank to look into buying the US group for $137 (£70) a share, or more than $5b (£2.54b) in total.
Sodexho, it said, would pay for the acquisition in debt and through a capital increase of $1b (£510m)
But a Sodexho spokeswoman flatly refuted the claims. "We deny we are interested in Jones Lang LaSalle," she told the Reuters news service.
