Supplier News: Heinz brings versatile BBQ sauce to a hungry trade
BBQ sauces account for 12% of BOH use, so it is a natural step for the country's favourite sauce brand to launch its own super-fruity offering.
Heinz Foodservice is launching a BBQ sauce for use in the foodservice market in January, which will be one of the most versatile sauces in the market offering four applications: dipping, marinating, basting and grilling.
A premium offering that has been developed after extensive market research and NPD is set to carve out its share and grow the £8m market place and bring incremental profits to its wholesalers and end users.*
BBQ has become somewhat of a British obsession with the UK overtaking Germany as Europe's keenest BBQ-ers, and the foodservice industry is starting to cash in on this with more and more outlets cooking al fresco.
And this is why Heinz Foodservice has taken the step of introducing this new product in its 2.68kg plastic container, designed for simple handling. It also-has a clean label in terms of recipe.
Commenting on the launch senior brand manager for Heinz Foodservice, Toby Barty, said: "As with all of the Heinz Foodservice portfolio this product has been developed in direct response to the feedback from our customers.
"The new apple-based BBQ sauce is without a doubt the most mouth-watering product on the market, not just in terms of taste but in terms of profit potential too. We are working very closely with customers to ensure our new sauce can support their business; as although the new sauce has four main applications it can also provide bespoke solutions, for example as a pizza base sauce or as a burger relish."
